I need to dial a number and when the call is answered I will send a DTMF squence ( My Command array , Packed as DTMF 0-9) from SIM900. Then the other end will recive this and send a DTMF response sequence which will be received here and assembled into a response array. Both sides will be using PIC Micros to send and receive data.
As far as I can understand from reading the datasheets, SIM900 is capable of doing this without any external DTMF encoders of decoders. with AT commands I can do this task.

Is my understanding about the situation correct? I have no prior experience in SIM900 modems. Do you see any problems in this approach?
Thanks for reading.
