This Tesla generator is a typical construction, the MMC consists of 6 capacitors 150 n/2 kV, current coupling is a transformer 1:50 on a 3E25 ferrite (TN32 size). The power electronics are 2 IGBT GA200SA60UP + 2 very quick diodes. The steering is from big DR's – it's based on a predicter with an additional bridge on mosfets and GDT.
The primary current is 170A in an impulse, but the transistors were tested on 800A in an impulse with catalog 200A – therefore the transistors are safe. The resonant frequency is about 180kHz.
The first tests were done on 400V diodes with 320V power supply, but that damaged the diodes and one IGBT, therefore new 600V diodes were used.
The biggest spark was 70cm.
