Hi,

One of my components in my PCB needs a footprint which contains a T-Shaped pad. Is it possible to draw this in Orcad-Layout? Normally I see square/circular/rectangular pads. Can we assign an arbitrary shape to a pad? How can it be done?

Thanks in advance

Hello,
am still new to ORCAD, only I know how to design new components and do the schematics. Hopefully, within 2-3 weeks I'll be able to answer your question. Not sure if that is too late for you!

btw, am learning from one book called "Complete PCB Design Using OrCAD® Capture and PCB Editor"...that's not avaliable online for free. I can share it with you via "dropbox shared folders" if interested...

You an draw your T-shaped pad as a shape symbol and use it in the pad stack.
Create a shape symbol in your required shape and save in the directory of your board file.
In the pad stack you create, browse for the SHAPE SYMBOL you created and use the pad stack in your DRA.(Refer attached image for example)
