I want to convert the output from DSP TMS 320F2812 (3.6V) to compatible with TLP250 (+5v)
what Digital IC family to be used as buffer either 74LS of 74HCT also tell me what is the difference between both?
I connected 74HCT04 my +5V power supply heatup

74HCT will "work" logically but the input PMOS will be
well lit up by (5V-3.3V=1.7V) at the logic high and high
Idd will result.

74LS will be happy enough, but give you a lousy VOH
and probably make what follows -it- unhappy instead.

Look for purpose-made level shifting inverters / buffers.

Dear Dick,

Can u give the details IC numbers of Purpose-made Level shifting inverters/buffer

Presently i am using 74LS04.

Also can u suggest me good material (Books or Notes) on Understanding how to connect different Logic families.
