what is memory padding

Hello Friends,

Does any one know What is Memory Padding (in Structures). Under Linux operating system.

This mean data alligment to CPU word boundary, adding (reserving some unused bytes) for structure elements (or all structure) alligment to word boundary in memmory.
Sometime if you do not need this element alligment, compillator have switches or "pragma" directives, for example "#pragma pack(1)"
