Hello Guys,
I want to know that does the AC frequency of our home power varies. In my country the standard electricity frequency supplied to our homes is 50 Hz, So i want know that does it remain same all the time or it tend to vary with respect to time. And also please tell me if in case it varies then whats the reason behind it ??

It varies but only slightly. The frequency is produced by the rotation of the generator in the power station, when under heavy load the generator slows down slightly so your 50Hz may drop to say 49.9Hz. Most power companies will speed up the generator when the load is small again ensuring the overall number of cycles in 24 hours is always 4,320,000. That's so that synchronous equipment and clocks still average the same speed per day.

Brian.
