Hi,

In SOC Encounter when we see the Floorplanning /placement View there will be Standard Cell Rows ( Every Alternate Row Flipped because to accompany for VSS and VDD).

Do we use Channels for Routing in between the Std Cell Rows or it is completely Channel_less Routing?

Re: Routing

channels are like guide for routing. they made routing easy for tools like SOCencouter etc..

there are channel-less routing capable tools also, like magma, but takes more time for time for routing but core utilization will be more.

Re: Routing

IMHO all modern routers including nanoroute in SOC are channelless ones. It is true, that old channel routers were fast. .13 and .09um technologies need a flexible routers which are supporting all their specific DRules

Re: Routing

So
Routing in SOC Encounter is a Channel-less routing. So routing is done entirely on OTC Over the Cell Routing .Right.

Can we or Is there any option/command to introduce channels in the routing ? if required .
