dns server record types and name server entry

hai all

Below Iam entering some DNS records entry . can any one help me to understand what is the purpose of these entries "ns1.mydomain.com."" and "ns2.mydomain.com.. Is ns1.mydomain.com. and ns2.mydomain.com is pointing out a server machine . Then what will be it contain ?




mydomain.com. IN NS ns1.mydomain.com.
mydomain.com. IN NS ns2.mydomain.com.


mydomain.com. IN A 192.168.40.31
ns1.mydomain.com. IN A 192.168.40.33
ns2.mydomain.com. IN A 192.168.40.34
