Hugo00 thats a cool display you have made and i like your idea of using 4smd led instead of 1 led will try to copy your idea if permission is granted.

Hi
If you have any question just let me know

moving display diy tutorial

hmmm .... tat was so much info regarding tis circuit !!

hi , all ..

but recently my teacher giv me a assignmnet which is almost similar to this project .
Basically it's almost the same , he wanted us to use atmel 8051 to produce display of A-Z alphabet and 0-9 number o dot matrix . But then , because he provides us with the different ic , accesorries and etc .. i confused wit it . so , wanna ask the electronics expert here if u all can provide any help ? or link to helpful website ? thanks in advance ..

the component provided is : ie : component ( quantities )

crystal 11.0592 Mhz ( 1 )
40 - way DIP IC socket ( 1 )
micro-tact switch ( 2 )
10k - 8 way gang resistor ( 1 )
18-way gang resistor ( 1 )
100 0hm resister ( 1 )
1k resistor ( 16 )
8.2K resister ( 1 )
C104 ( 2 )
10uF capacitor (2 )
1uF capacitor ( 2 )
7805 ( 1 )
atmel89s51 ( 1 )
project board ( 2 )
uln 2803 ( 4 )

and lastly the important one " 2 pieces of 2.3" 8x8 bi-color dot matrix display "

the teacher requires minimum functionning circuit tat able to display numbers and alpahets .but for bonus points is to make animation or simple games ..

in this topic , there's so many info regarding one dot matrix , which i found helpful . but sadly when facing tis project which use two pieces of 8x8 dot matrix plus some ic like uln2803 which i dun know how it's works , it's already giv me some headache ..

some points to add ,

1): since tow 8x8 dot matrix will occupied most of the port , so the teacher ask us to reduce one of the 8x8 matrix to 7x7 dot matrix display , thus tat will leaving one free port for " enter " button . so , if student wan to setup more buttons , then he will be forced to reduce the dot matrix display become smaller .

2) : the teacher only provides 2 switch which one reserve for "reset " button and another one is " enter " button , but he hope tat if can , students are welcome to use three buttons so tat one is " menu" , " enter " , " cancel or reset " .

i hope tat if any expert here is willing to help me :D
any simple circuit , hints , or links are very welcome :!:

p/s : i just hope tat i can get some help on how to construct atmel 8051 connect to 4 IC of uln2803 and connect to 2 8x8 dot matrix ..

thanks once again :)

Which circuit you talking about??

Hi
you complaining about the our work what about you learn something by your self something and not cheat for your good, but anyway here is the diagram approximately how should work, it is in protel format, but still you should work on with the ports how you need to connected, and arrange the software as well if you missing something let me know. I must ask how do you like play ‘simple game’ (your teacher) with only TWO buttons, for me 5 button is the optimum, but you can do with min 3-4 buttons.
Anyway let me know how you going.

which circuit ?

oh my , i apologize for my bad english ..

actually i was meaning to say tat , " wow , the so many info for tis topic "

i certainly not mean mine .. but the , man ! tat a such a short time u already can come out such wonderful solution .. "thumb up "

certainly , i will keep up to date for ongoing job ..

regarding the games ..hmm , yeah , 3 buttons is the minimum requirement for design the games ..

the teacher did mention tat , 2 dot matrix display will mostly take all the ports , which mean , if student want to connect two buttons , one is reserves for reset button while another is taken by sacrfice one single port ( one / single connection ) which leave one dot matrix in 8x8 format while another is 7x7 format ..

the games is not necesarily but it's for additional marks . example games is like ( stone , cloth , scissor ) . if can't create games , then simple animation like moving number , sign or etc ..

but then , it's not fair if u r the only one who do the work . u r right .. ha ha , time for me to work hard .
i wan to learn too !! :) .

thanks fo ur help , " hugo00 " .. very appreciate ur help ...

hope next time if i hav any problem , hop u can guide me .. see u again ..take care in the mean time .
