[SOLVED] Display Settings corrupted

All of a sudden the display resolution changed. When I went to look at the display setttings, I couldnt fine the 1440X900 resolution there,which I was using till then. And the second monitor selection window also went missing.

When checked for the display driver details, it misses there as well. The tabs all are like missing, disabled, no driver details etc.

What could possibly the problem??

Any hints appreciated
 

You can try to uninstall and reinstall the display driver but it will mess your icon placement in the desktop because it will revert to a low resolution until you reinstall the driver.
It is definitely not a damaged graphics controller because then you wouldn't be able to see anything in the monitor.

Thanks Alex for your comment.

It detects the display adaptor but not letting me to install the driver. Unexpected errors and stuffs.

Finally after playing a day with it, I formatted and re-imaged the OS. hmmm.. Now it works. Ofcourse it should work.
Curse the single partitioned drive,had a good time of taking back up and putting it back.
