Unipolar boltage

Just for verification

If I need to deliver a unipolar voltage(+ve voltage) to a device but my source is a square wave, can I use a diode/rectifier to cancel out the negative voltage? What other things do I need to watch out for(beside the breakdown)?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Unipolar boltage

One single diode may do ..
But you may consider adding a filter/smoothing capacitor to make the control signal more "DC" and a zener diode to limit the maximum voltage (if required) ..

Re: Unipolar boltage

watch that the negative voltage doesn't exceed the breakdown voltage in the negative cycle by zener...but the final voltage will be the voltage u input minus the diode voltage and that across any resistor you put....so don't forget to put that in mind when calculating the final voltage
