I am currently working on how to do digital remastering for a sound file.

Why don't you check out Adobe's vry fine Audition 1.5?

I recall looking at some C source code and the person use a chopping/averaging method to remove the clicking noise. The coder also insert zeroes. Can someone explain the insertion of zeroes and the averaging. I think the averaging is use to obtain the maximum amplitude.
