Digital IC chips & Analog IC chips

Hi,

For digital IC chips, the design is written in HDLs. Then what about analog IC chips? How it's designed(I think HDLs can not be used for this).

Please help me in this.

And I have got one more question: Coming to the ASIC, is it specifically for digital chips or what? If ASIC is specific to do only one kind of functions like codec or Bitcoin mining, then what are other chips called that designed to do some general purpose things. Also tell me what a single chip can do some general purpose things, with example.

It's not that simple. Verilog-A is great for modelling analog components, but it isn't necessarily the language analog designers use to design.

Verilog is the de facto design language for digital. Verilog-A is not for analog/RF.

Analog circuits are designed by drawing schematics and usually simulated with SPICE based simulators. Verilog-A is suitable for the description of certain mixed signal circuits, not generally for analog design.

Huh? I can barely interpret what you are asking here "Coming to the ASIC". ASIC stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit, or in other words a custom designed chip. It can be a digital, analog, or mixed analog/digital design.

Also why did you post this question about analog ASICs in the digital section? There is a section specifically devoted to Analog ASIC design.
