Hi...
I am having an application in that I have to measure fuel level in cars in digital.
How can I measure it? Which sensor is required to it? Can I use float arm which is already used in car for analog measurement?

Please let me know if anybody have any idea...

Thanks
GM

HI

You can use pressure sensor to measure fuel level in tank

Freescale provide many type of pressure sensor you can order via MOUSER

Also look for application note from National & Frescale on how to preform liquid level measurement

All the best

You may be intrested in my Linear water level indicator whose design is based on PIC micro. It displays the level of liquid on 3 x seven segment displays starting from 000 to 100% in 1% steps. The same can be implimented for any sized tanks with any capacity. The probes are not in contact with water to sense the level, thus no corosion of the probes. The design uses capacitance based technique to measure the level of liquid in a container and thus it may be even used for liquid which doesnt conduct. may be even distilled water. But as the said project is highly demanding and i giving the complete technology which will include schematics, One prototype, and codes of the same. A brief description of the same may be found at the below link.

Cheers

Hi,

I've tried to access the link you posted at the bottom of your reply but I can't open the link. Would you have another access link for me to get this information?

Thanks

The top of a fuel tank is full of very flammable fuel vapor. Electronics used in these environments must be intrinsically safe.(ATEX EXi) The building and testing of this type of electronics is very complex. I would suggest that you do your project on a water tank
