analog and digital data transmission

Hi,
Can you tell me whether the model that i am working on is feasible or not ,and what all difficulties can come my way for this model :


Data In------->
(Mechanical----->74165------->(some medium)------->74164-----Display
Switches)------>[PISO] [SIPO]

300Hz square pulse (using opamp) 300Hz

What about clock ?
Please share your views on this simple idea !
