Hello every1.......

I'am looking for a circuit interface for a digital data acquisition using a micro controller. I have an idea of using opto couplers to isolate digital data from the microprocessor. Is it the best way to implement such a system... appreciate ur ideas

Thank You

What kind of data are you aquisitioning?

Hi ....
Here im looking for digital data. Something describes here
**broken link removed**

And encoder signals etc...

it is not only depends on the type of signal I mean analog or digital but optical isolation also depends on the frequency of the signal....there one need to understand little more about your system.....For an example did you planning to have polling based system or interrupt based system too.... so first write down the specification of your system then one can put the ideas.....Opto-coupler in general will give you millisecond kind of resolution and precision in the digital signals.... but if you look for system specification in microsecond it may not be good choice how ever higher quality and costly opto-switching technology in today gives GBPS support in the fiber optics....

Good Luck

Hi...... Thank you for ur quick replies and sorry for lack of details

Actually mS kind of resolution is far enough for my application (upto 1kHz sufficient). Basically digital traducers have low frequency output signals. And Im using polling method. This is the basic schematic and the simulation result using multisim. I'v used schmit trigger inverter with the transistor [1kHz signal /yellow - in / blue - out]. However there is a little time shift in the output (50-70uS). Is this cct ok for the application ?

Thank You

I think the question that you asking is opto-coupler is suitable for your application....In my view yes....As per specification on MCT6 the turn on and turn off time are in the order of 2.4 us ....so should be file

Good Luck
