Hi,

I'm in a dilemma whether to use a solid state relay or a Triac based switch-cum-dimmer circuit for
digital control of 230V Ac devices.
Please state the advantages of using relays over triac or vice-versa.

Regards,
Syed Aban

It all depends on the final requirements if you want to do dimming or something like where you want switch at the rapid speed there you have to go for the triacs as the switching times of the ssr are in order of milliseconds which will not be suitable if you are going for phase control firing such concepts but if you are going for the simple on and off you need not go for the triacs where ssr are enough you can get more information about this in the google
