Different USB Hub mode power connection

I have a question on this USB Hub USB2512B, whose checklist is given here: https://ww1.microchip.com/downloads...lateral/SchematicChecklistUSB2512BQFNRevA.pdf

On the pages 3,4,5 of the above document, they mention 3 different modes. Self powered, self powered with permanently attached host and bus powered.

However, when you look at the VBUS_DET pin of all the 3 different modes, you see that in all the 3 modes, the VBUS_DET pin is only provided with +3.3V input. In that case, how are the 3 modes being differentiated?

Can someone clarify on this?
