Hi all

What are the differences between Acoustic waves and Electromagnetic Waves?

Re: Differences between Acoustic waves and Electromagnetic W

acoustic waves are mechanial waves and need a medium to travel.... EM waves can travel in vacuum too...

Yes as Anand told, acoustic waves are mechanical waves.. It doesnt have electical and magnetic components associated with its propogation.. So it wil not be affected by the electic and magnetic field.. It propogates through medium because of compression and rarefaction.. EM waves dont need specific medium to traverse..

While EM waves travel with speed of light(in other words light is an em wave..),accoustic waves travel with far far lesser velocity..
