Hello every one what will be the difference between .lef and .gds. As far as i know both are physical views..So is there any difference between them...

GDS contains complete mask layer information of the design . Where as lef has the pin information mainly

LEF is a reduced view for place and route tool, which include at least the metal layer which are manipulate by the PnR tool.
Rhe description will include obstruction and pins.

LEC:logical equivalance check
lec is one of the formal verification method
lec is performed after synthesis

GDS:GDS II is a database file format which is the de facto industry standard for data exchange of integrated circuit or IC layout artwork
"Graphic Data System"

LEF not LEC ;-)

LEF:Library Exchange Format
in cadence tools we use LEF
in synopsys tools we use .tf(technology file)

this LEF/.tf contains the info of technology mapped gates with timing,power,area...etc info for each and every cell that is being used in our design

I think Timing and power info will be in .lib
