This is a project of simple boards, ready to be connected via ribbon cables. It is a good alternative for pin plate, because mounting the multiplex display or matrix keypad, though simple, is very time consuming. With this device, you do not waste time.
In the attachments (original thread), you can find:
- multiplex tri-color display
- matrix keypad
- eight buttons
- dipswitch
- ledbar
Those pictures show two versions of the system. One was assembled in an hour, the other in a few minutes.
Tri-color display
Four 7-segment displays with two common anodes – red and green. Together they have a yellow color. Segments and anodes are lit by zeros. You can also apply a simple monochrome displays.
Matrix keypad 4x4
A very simple way to connect more of the keys to the 8-bit microcontroller port. A detailed description and an example program is located on the website (link at the bottom).
Buttons
Some pull-up resistors can be added to the keypad.
DIPswitch
Consists of eight switches.
LEDBAR
10 LEDs in one housing. It is small and comfortable solution.
Cables and tapes
Cables and 4-wires tapes are ideal for this purpose. They look very nice, and their performance in spite of appearances is very simple and quick. Everything is combined into a whole with this cables. The microcontroller is placed on a pin plate. 4-wire cables turned out to be extremely useful for example when connecting LED display and LCD (DB4, 5, 6, 7), columns and rows of the keypad, as well as the rest.
Detailed description of all this and a sample program to support the keypad can be found at Leon Instruments: P
