i had build a spider robot with a gripper at the most front part.. i need to find out a load in a specific area and carry the load back to its original location..
what kind of sensor i need to use to detect the object if the define area is about 5m..what can i do to make sure the robot will stop at right position to carry the load??
pls help..thanks

well, there are several ways, have you allready done some type of navigation? Cuz if you have allready done something, it would be much easier to fit it to system you allready have.

Best way is camera, if the object have IR transmitter you can find by IR detectors, or by some combination of sonar and ir detectors.
