My PSU makes clicking noise from time to time, sometimes it is fast, others it is slow, I recently noticed that it makes that sound when the kitchen blender is running, so i tried it several times and made sure the blender causes the sound, but it is a weak sound with the blender, so maybe there are other devices that cause the problem, is that ordinary?, if not what can i do about it?, Thanks in advance..
"It seems like some electrolytic capacitors are dying."
could you please explain how the filter capacitors would do that sound, it is a new PSU and I bought it to replace another one that had a dying capacitor, so there may be a bigger problem.
If it is a brand new piece. you may get a replacement. As a fact, Power supplies can be easily damaged if input voltage is raised for any reason. When the same happens, the secondary generates voltage proportionately and thus it will be naturally beyond the limit of the electrolytic capacitors rated voltage levels and thus the capacitors leak out and thus will not function properly. The same case will occur if the power supply is rated to use on 110V and it is plugged accidenltly to 220V. This is what i guess in your case. Good luck
