I have a question about laptop battery:

Imagine that we want to design a power supply circuit for a laptop,
we can provide the required number of 12V-5A batteries, the specifications of the laptop power supply adapter is inserted:

Input: 100-240 VAC 50Hz – 1.5A
Output: 19.5 VDC – 4.5A

How could we design the circuit in low expense and high quality?

How should this circuit be?

I like to know your ideas, what do you think about this?

Best regards

Hello Dear Peter

I think this circuit convert AC to DC, am I right?
We can just use DC power supply as the input of the circuit (12V-5A batteries)

I have 2 ideas:
First, we can use DC batteries to provide AC voltage as input of the charger (convert DC to AC).

Second, by combination of some batteries produce the output voltage of the charger and directly charge the laptop (without its charger).

Which one is useful?

Do you have any other ideas?

Hi Nadiro,

Yes, its AC/DC converter.

For DC/DC converter is other circuit. Usually that converter should have adapter voltage for example 19V DC, to ensure charging of laptop battery.

Do you need DC/DC ?

Best regards,
Peter

If I combine 2 batteries (12V-5A) it produce 24 V then how can I convert it to 19.5 VDC – 4.5A?

Best regards

Some laptops can work direct on 12V Lead-Acid battery, connected instead original Li-Ion battery. Voltage of Li-Ion laptop batteries are around 10-14V, and voltage of 17-19V is used to ensure charging of Li-Ion Laptop battery.

There is many ways to make this, for example to make DC-DC converter which will boost voltage from 12V to 19V.

See examples:
