Hi friends,

In am now designing a three-phase full wave diode bridge rectifier with input line voltage of 440V (RMS), 50 Hz. Its output current is 25A.

I was not able to get the formula to calculate output filter capacitor for ripple minimization.

Please help me to know the formula for filter capacitor calculation.

I am also making a three phase rectifier for an inverter, and i used a 2200uf,450v electrolytic capacitor and it was quite successful.

The basic equation for peak-to-peak ripple in a 3-phase capacitor filtered rectifier output is Vpp = I/6fC where I is the current, f is the line frequency and C is the filter capacitance.

How much ripple can you tolerate?
