Hi all,
I got a new laptop, Dell D620, and i face many problems about it :(

It doesn't respond to standby by closing the monitor or power-switch or from any other adjustment from power settings!!

Moreover, the monitor switch key is not functioning at all..

Also standby sometimes doesn't work from the normal turn-off menu!!!

Can some one provide any help :(

Thanks,
Ahmad,

you need to flash the bios properly

some idiot has flashed only the upper block and did not do a boot block flash
the last time it was done {maybe where it was bought}

this is usualy a register settings problem

to cure it look for the latest bios firmware and perform a boot block flash

then retry with power first making sure that apm
and acpi are both enabled in the bios

i got a toshiba and had the same problems at first
then a bios flash arraived on the website cured all these problems

there was also proprietry software from toshiba that allows switching of these features
over and above thoses provided by windows

allowing you to disables the case switch etc so maybe this is missing or missinstalled
