You may have to leave the setting in the BIOS to SATA (not ATA, as i think that is what you changed it too).
With that you need to have a USB floppy disk and a floppy with your RAID drivers on it.
When you computer starts to lead the XP files, you will have to hit F6 (to have the RAID driver select screen pop up)
Select the drivers you have on the floppy and let it continue installing.

This should fix your BSOD problem, but if it does not then your computer Mother Board is most likely not compatible with XP. If this is the case I would look at just running XP in a VM. If that is not a option, then buying an older laptop would be your only solution.

Also if you get XP running, make sure to check out PCIDATABASE.COM for your drivers (you will have to look up the Hardware ID and Vender ID in your Device Manager). I use that site for drivers I can not find.

Hope it helps, and keep us up to date.

Give up from Win XP go to front not to back. Use Windows 7 and use this>

Most of app will work, but some not. Trying of this is free.

Windows compatibility mode works about 60% of the time at best. :???:

IF you want you can try XP Mode, but you will have to be running a copy of Windows 7 Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate. (A OEM Dell Inspiron N4030 has Windows 7 Home Basic installed)

Here is a link and some instructions on how to install and use Windows XP mode in Windows 7

Always he can install Win7 pro, ultimate, ent, pirate copy or to buy it. Its not limited only to OEM OS.
I know lots of people who after buying laptop notebooks, kill OEM crap in it and reinstall full real OS in Ultimate or Ent. ver.:smile:

I agree with this.
I said that in my post so the OP knew of that, so that he did not go install the OS his laptop came with and then learn that he had to have a different version of Windows 7 (I was trying to save the OP some time:grin.

Always You can run VMware and use Windows XP.

The problem with using a VM is that you really do not have true control of your drivers (a lot of them are generic virtualized drivers and looking at the post of edaboard I though he maybe doing some work with building drivers or at least modifying them).

Depending on what you need to use your system for, a VM may work, but if you need control of a system like a true install a VM may not work (I had this problem).

I agree with You, emulator is emulator, but I use some hardware things on Win98 under VMware. I have software only for Win98 and cant work under WinXP, use LPT and serial ports nice. Also I use VMware a lots times, but now when new versions of hardware and software is here no needs for that. Often in past some old uC programmers have old software that run under win98, now there is newer programmers and softwares.

thank you to all for response ...
* I have installed several different times with different versions but the same result could not
* if I buy old laptop is not possible ..
* if i use xp mode in 7 .. whether this has been tested properly?
* I will use, create a new cd win 7 with hardware on the contents of xp .. if this might be?
