debugging hi-tech compiler under MPLAB

I'm debugging a Hi-tech PICC18 compiler program under MPLAB and I need to debug it at C- source level. I call some functions under my program and when I do it, the debugger not allows step inside the funtion neither allocate breakpoints in the function. Also the variables are out of scope.

Is there any special configuration for do it or Is there other way ?



I have proved the HI-TIDE, but is very poor debugging tool.

There are lots of people complaining about this, has to do with ht optimisation and other facts ...
