dc drive circuit

I need circuit diagram/related theory for designing a power electronics circuit for controlling DC motor of about 1 hp and also to measure its speed

Please help

Under the search item "power electronics" you will find many

papers and books about theory of motor control.

As example look at "Power Electronics" from Rashid or Mohan.
