Hello,

Is there any simple circuit/IC that I can use to convert 40V to 18V 2A max?

Thanks,

Re: 40V to 18V/2A Converter

I need something more simple, and compact, like the LT1074, and not QFN package :(

Thanks

Re: 40V to 18V/2A Converter

Because I only found it after I've writen the post! :).

I think the LT1074 it's the best solution for me.

I'll also check out that link.

Thanks

Re: 40V to 18V/2A Converter

Another alternative could be the TPS40200DRG4 under 2 bucks. Not quite as simple as the linear tech part but they have a good data sheet with examples. Pretty wimpy gate drive for high power designs but all you need to do if it's not adequate is add a discrete totem.

I don't know where you are but here is a link where you can find the part and the data sheet.

You could also use a UC384X Series.

any 78xx will blow up instantly with such power to dissipe..you must use a smps, not a linear regulator.
