Hi guys. I have to Use a micro processor at a location where I will only have access to 220V dc.
I need a circuit that can convert the 220V dc to the range of 12V or 5V. Or a product in the market that can do this. I don't want to use voltage dividers as this is inefficient.
220 DC, not AC? Well, then what you need is buck converter. You don't tell us how much current you need, which is kind of an important bit of information...
You can buy a DC-DC converter, but it's going to be pretty expensive. That 220VDC input is pretty high. Here's one solution, although it might be overkill for your application https://www.acopian.com/store/8y-(1).aspx
Standard (non-PFC) switch mode power supplies have bridge rectifier input and work well with 220V DC, E.g. Meanwell PM-05 module. Small modules down to 1 or 2 W or available as well. Unless you are designing for high quantity it won't pay to make your own.
