dc dc boost converter Fairchild KA34063A controller help

Hi I am designing a dc dc boost converter, could anyone show me how to implement this controller as i require 2.5A at the output of the converter?

I have the output of the IC connected to the gate of an external mosfet and an 8.0A inductor. If the feedback voltage is divided to the required 1.25V and 300 mV for the comparator and Ipk sense voltage inputs respectively then the ic controller will be ok?

It is run from a 12V supply with output voltage of the converter 20V.

I have a different controller Fairchild KA7500C. Would this be a more suitable controller? Sorry for all the questions and I appreciate anyone who could help

Hi.
The KA7500 is the same part as TL494. It's commonly used in PC power supplies. I think you should stick to the 34063.
The Fairchild's datasheet you're referring to is quite plain. Look at other manufacturers' datasheets of this device.

Look for connection with an external transistor, it's quite simple.

There's also an online calculator. Although it doesn't count with the external switch, it's an easy way to get the values of the passive parts.
