blocking oscillator

I have see a schematic with pushpull primary, drivered by a couple of blocking oscillator ( one little secondary with 2 transistor), the frequency is 42 Khz, my question is why use blocking oscillator and not for example siple transistor (or IC) square wave 42 Khz oscillator?
what is the advantage ??
