Data programer display problem

I have a data programmer which is dos. data receive from PC and send to machine,
include a LCD display POWER TIP company.Its problem was the letters not showing but
some squire only showing .and the programming window (on PC software)also not opening.
I changed a new microcontroller 80C32 (i think the Lcd interface) after the result is muc getting hot
and display also the same.here the microcontroller is programmed or not I dont know.
Please help me ..the data box is max232 based micocontroller and eprom connected.
