Hi All,
1. Does DAC hase quantizaion noise? (in ADC, we have quantization noise wich is LSB^2/12). Since the DAC doesnt have steps like the ADC, it seems that he doesnt have quantizaion noise like the ADC. If so, when mentioned SNR and SNDR of a DAC, what is the noise they refer to usually? thermal noise? KT/C?
In ADC, usually the SNDR and SNR refer to the quantizaion noise (assuming ENOB=N-1)
2. Why is it better to have so much resolution in DAC? (In ADC, you need resolution to overcome the quantizaion noise) but assuming that the DAC doesnt have quantizaion noise, why do we need to have so many bits?
Regards,
