D-Link 4X Mode - what does it mean?

D-Link 4X Mode

Hi,

I found, that new BIOS for D-Link DWL-900AP+ (and 614+ too) offers new option 4X Mode. What is that mean? It means 4 times faster connection speed? If yes, How does it work? Does other manufactures offers it too?
