Hi,

I am trying to measure the energy consumption of a PC system in a high resolution and sample rate (to measure the effect of different algorithms on the power consumption). The expected current should be under 2.3A (550W/230V='power rating of power supply'/'wall power').

I ended up buying a ARM Energy Probe Measuring Card (https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1728565.pdf) and a CR4110S-20 Current Transducer (https://www.crmagnetics.com/Assets/ProductPDFs/CR4100_Series.pdf) which I want to use to measure non-invasive on the power supply cable of my PC.

The Current Transducer should transform 0-20AAC to 0-5VDC with a linear transformation (x4). Nevertheless, with a multimeter I'm measuring values in the range of 0,00XV. Even stranger, when using the Measuring Card the voltage oscillates between 0V and 1,5V independently if the cable I measure is under power or not.

I'm new in this domain. Does anyone have an idea for troubleshooting?

Thanks in advance,
Adrian

The current transducer doesn't work if you place the multi wire power cable in the core. The field of L and N wire are cancelling out. Place either L or N wire.
