Hi everyone,
I'm using IC compiler for placement and routing and following https://www.edaboard.com/threads/155698/ script over here or the tutorial from attached pdf file.

I'm using OSU libraries for synthesis purpose and want to continue using them for Place and Route as well.

Now as both tutorials specify I'm suppose to create and use milkyway library. I don't understand exact use. Can anyone elaborate a lil more, I'll keep on looking by myself as well

Thanks :)

Milkyway library means the design in layout format and you need the reference milkyway library to create your layout design. Reference milkyway library consists the predesigned layout of basic cells like AND, OR, NAND so on. Milkway is a term used in Synopsys tool, but different vendors(like cadence) have different names for their layout libraries and views.

In PnR , we give gate-level netlist as input to layout tool. This netlist has only logical information that how the cells are connected but no physical information. In layout you actually give information about std. cell's height, their pins location (by loading the reference library), based on logical and physical information tool place and route the design.

Thanks for the info :)

So I've been reading about getting milkyway database from lef (library exchange format) which is provided by osu libraries.

As explained in tutorial with this post read_lef in Milkyway (tool) provide me with required milkyway folders (FRAM and CEL) however I'm still confused about getting .mw

I would like to have some opinions

Thanks
