coupled line divider

How to define ports for coupled line or microstrip power divider in HFSS?
I don't know how to define several wave ports in the same plane.

Thanks :) :)

port couled lines hfss

for coupled line, define 1 wave port, in the property window you can specify 2 teminals, assign them integration line perspectly.
Power divider, I didnt simulate it before, but I think both waveport and lumped port should work nice.

using terminals coupled line hfss

for coupled lines and for power dividers you can define one wave port that is at the feed of the line.
As for assigning more than one wave port go for the multiple mode options available when defining wave port.

sure, you can. But pls remember the boundary condition of wave port boundary is PEC, u induced the PEC wall to coupled line. In this case, it is very hard to adjust the size of port.
My understanding is one wave port, several modes.

hfss power at each port

Hi,

Waveports whould be broad enough (for example in Microstrip the total height should be about 5 times the height of the dielectric layer between the GNd and the trace). In addition it should be broad enough (because of the PEC wall on the edges of the wave port). For that reason - if you have multiple lines that are close to each other you should do one of the following:

1) Put a waveport in driven model solution (on all of the traces). The number of modes should be the number of conductors minus one. For example a differential pair has 3 conductors (including ground), therfore you should set the number of nodes to two (differential mode and common mode)

2) Put a waveport in driven terminal solution. Each terminal line can be between the trace and the ground below it (hold the Z key while drawing the line).

3) Use Lumped ports between each trace and the ground. In this case you should make sure the traces are long enough otherwise the interactions you are looking for will be incorrect.
