Sorry i should explain, -when i ask for the cost comparison, i mean the labour cost of assembly staff doing the surface mount vs the through hole.
Its just that we are doing a small 5W lamp circuit which has three 22uF , 250V electrolytic capacitors in it, and surface mount versions are $0.7 each, whereas through hole equivalents are $0.19.
-So from a components cost point of view, Through hole technology is far cheaper.
-however, we are wondering if the labour cost of through hole assembly is simply far more than SMT assembly labour costs?
