I have a bunch of simulation results stored as Waveform Database (.wdb) and Waveform(.wcfg) files. I would like to convert them to VCD files. Would this be possible?

Thanks in Advance,
Reese

I don't know much about WDB files, but doing a little bit of research there seems to be a few different flavors or types.

If the waveform files were very simple, I'd suggest to make a script to do the conversion yourself, but seeing the format of VCD files, I would think that would be difficult and error prone.

I think your best bet is to go to whoever got you these files from and ask about the methodology they intend you to follow. If you created the waveform files yourself, then I'd look at the documentation for the software you used to understand the flow they intended you to use.

Please give us more information about where you got these files and what you intend to do with them. We might be able to help you better if we had that information.

as far as I know you cannot generate VCD file from the already generated waveform files, wdb, and wcfg is only the waveform holder, it does not hold data.

which simulator you are working with. in Isim this can be done just before starting simulation

Thanks everyone.
As syedshan said, it couldn't be converted. So I had the simulator dump out VCD straight. I was using Isim.
The only two utilities that I know of are, wlf2vcd and vcd2saif. These are pretty useful.
