i have some 1000 watt EMC2 standby power supplies which are normally used as backup for computer servers , i am hoping to convert them for use as a UPS on a CCTV system

see photo

they are running fine based on the LED light indicators on the front panel , but it appears their operation must be linked via an RJ12 plug on the front

does anyone know if these are supposed to have a seperate PC card to operate them and make the backup power supply kick in ?

if i connect a load to them and switch off the mains supply , nothing happens.

the batteries are fully charged ( 35 volts DC worth ) , so i assume the RJ 12 plug must be connected to something else to make them trip over to battery fed inverter function ?
