I am having trouble wrapping my mind around this one...

I have a spreadsheet of S parameters (in db/angle format) for an MMIC. I'd like to plot S11 on a smith chart (amongst other operations), but I can't seem to find any info that helps me with the conversion from dB/angle to impedance (either mag/angle or R/X). This is probably really easy, but I just can't seem to grasp it at the moment.

Tnx,

Joe

The easiest way would be to set up your spreadsheet to fit a touchstone .s2p file format, then copy and paste it into a text file using notepad (wordpad doesn't do this well) and then run it in ADS.

The other way would be to convert S11 from DB to magnitude (10 ^ (dB_value / 20) ) and then you'll have the mag and angle for S11 and convert that into reflection coefficient and plot that on a polar plot.

I think the first way is a lot easier tho. Hope this helped!
