Controlling the speed of motor using tric!!

i am using TRIC V1.1 for writing codes in c for the philips microcontroller P89V51RD2.. i saw a header file named dcmotors.h and function named runmotor(motor_number,direction,speed).. i have no idea how to use this function.. can anyone help me out pls?

Triacs are usually used to control AC loads with Phase control technique for dimming or speed control. For DC load, you may prefer Transistors, SCR's or Mosfets with PWM for dimming or controlling the speed.

The op wants to know about a DC motor.
