[SOLVED] Constant Current through Solid State Relay

Hi All,

I'm planning on switching a constant current (around 3mA) through a solid state relay.
May I know if this is possible? Will the current remain constant after going through the relay or will the value change? Also please advice on the best type of SSR for this purpose.

do you want optical isolation? , will you please elaborate your requirement by posting schematics?

If isolation is required, optocoupler with MOSFET output ("photovoltaic" SSR) are suited, e.g. Toshiba TLP598.

Hi All,

Thanks for replies.
I have one constant current source which I want to be able to switch to one of 32 different paths.
Using 32 mechanical relays would take up lots of space.
SSRs are smaller but I need the current value to be constant after passing through the relay.

For a limited voltage range and no isolation requirement, analog multiplexers are the most simple (and smallest) solution.
