Computer hangs while working with serial port communication

serial port converter computer hang

I am working in serial data communicatin with COM1 as the transmitter and COM2 as the receiver configuring the cables with NULL MODEM configuration but while I execute my own program written in C, but it hangs and no symptoms to get the result. Hence, anyone who are eager to help me please send me a simple working program with satisfying my above mention configuration.

I used to have this problem when there was a faulty ground from the mains. Check the computer supply.
Also verify you are using the correct ports in the program.
