regarding these SMPS PWM Controller IC's..........

LT1243 is a pin for pin compatible replacement for UCC38C43 (it says so on first page of LT1243 datasheet)

so why on page 2 of the LT1243 datasheet is there a current source at the output of the error amplifier?

because this current source is not shown on the UCC38C43 block diagram on page 1 of the UCC38C43 datasheet
