Comparator input common mode range is not clear in datasheet

On page 4 of the LMV761 comparator datasheet , it says that input common mode range is
"MAX -0.3V 1.5V"

...What does this mean?.....does it mean that the input common mode range is from 0.3V
below ground to 1.5V below the supply rail? (assuming a single supply)

I understand that, input common mode range is from 0.3V below ground to 1.5V above ground.

Maximum -0.3V to 1.5V means, this is the maximum range found before any sample exhibit bad CMRR (less than 50dB). If this range exceed (e.g. 1.6V), then one or few samples may exhibit CMRR less than 50dB.

..thanks, though say of the supply is 5V....do you still think that the input common mode range only goes
up to 1.5V?
 

No. Input common mode range goes up to 1.5V for 2.7V supply (page 4). It goes up to 3.8V for 5V supply (page 5).

Thanks, its a surprise they don't just say that the upper limit of input common mode range is 1.2v
below the supply rail?
 
Agreed with you. In this way, it is unlike other common comparators (LM339/393) datasheet.
