compar two family of fpgas?

I read the results of implementation of an algorithm with xc4000 series of xilinx but I cant access the source code.HOw can I obtain the result of implementin g of that code for virtexII? Is there any relationship between the maximum frequncies of implementing a code for two families of FPGAs?
