I have compaq Presario 1400 (14XL442)laptop. Problem is that I bought it preloaded with Windows Me. So it recovery cds have this creepy windows. I though to use Windows 98 SE. I formatted the hard drive. I tried to boot laptop with windows 98 cd, but what happened was that windows 98 was up able to configure CD drive. So when boot sequence ended I was able to access only “C” and “D” drive, not E drive, which is CD ROM. Which means that I was left only with two empty drives. This forced me to drop that Windows 98 idea now I am using that windows Me from those recovery diskes.
Can any have faced this problem and have solution ?
